GETTING READY FOR SURF CLUB 2020

IF YOU OR ANY MEMBER OF YOUR HOUSEHOLD ARE DISPLAYING SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19 PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND YOUR SESSION.IF ANYONE DISPLAYS SYMPTOMS DURING A SESSION THEY WILL BE SAFELY REMOVED FROM THE SESSION OR ISOLATED UNTIL A PARENT/GUARDIAN CAN COLLECT THEM.

With the continued risk of Covid-19 we need to do things differently this year. So please ensure you read the information below so that you are ready for Surf Club 2020. Your patience and understanding is most appreciated. Let's ensure we keep everyone safe.

Your child will be in a group of 10 children with 1 instructor and 1 assistant. On week 1 please line up on the allocated cones and your child will be put into either the red, blue or yellow group and asked to head to their surf station. This will be their group for the rest of the club sessions. We will try and keep friendship groups together when allocating. A heads up that it may take us a bit longer to get into the water on week 1 as we will be forming the groups etc.

If you cannot make one of your five sessions you will not be able to move to another day due to all sessions being fully booked. if you can't make one of your sessions it would be useful if you could let us know so we know not to expect you. If we have to cancel due to bad weather we will try and move the session to an alternative. If no alternative is possible or you cannot attend the new date then we will provide you with credit towards a future booking.

Important: Ensure you have completed our medical form before you attend your first session.

You only need to complete our medical form once per calendar year so if you have surfed with us already this year and completed the form you do not have to complete again.

GETTING READY

  • Please ensure you arrive 5 minutes before the scheduled start time - if you are late for the session then the group may have already left for the beach and an instructor cannot stay behind to wait for you

  • On arrival please head to the flag on the grassed area

  • Here you will find surf stations set out 2 meters apart - please stand/sit on the first available surf station

  • Any accompanying adult/spectators must stand outside of the surf station and keeping 2m distance from any other persons

  • Your surf station will be set up with a board and a bucket which will include your rash vest and anti bacteria gel - please use the gel as soon as you arrive

  • All equipment will be disinfected before and after use for your safety

  • Your instructor will then come over to check you in.

  • If you have your own wetsuit then please wear it. If not your instructor will get a wetsuit for you and leave it 2m away for you to collect. We will make a note of your size so that we can have the wetsuit ready for you at your surf station for future club sessions

  • There are no changing rooms available so we recommend you wear your swimsuit under your clothes so that you can change on your surf station, using a towel if needed

  • Once changed you can place your belongings into your bucket. Please take this bucket with you down to the beach. If needed we can and will store them in our van for you however we would like to limit this to only when needed due to the continued threat of Covid-19.

HEADING TO THE BEACH

  • Time to head to the beach, you can pair up if required with one person at the front and one person at the back of the boards - keeping 2m distance between you. Our instructors cannot help you to carry boards therefore please assist your child if the need help carrying the board to the beach.

  • Any spectators are welcome to head down to the beach but must ensure they keep a 2m distance at all times

  • Your boards will then be placed in a semi-circle, 2m away from others for the safety briefing and surf demonstrations

  • Please ensure you keep 2m from others at all times - on the beach/in the water

  • If you need assistance on the waves in the water then your instructor may be able to help - please ask for assistance. 2m distance will be kept at all times
